Mr. Russell S. Baker is the Principal at Holdrege Middle School. Mr. Baker is a graduate of Doane College and received his Master's from the University of Nebraska at Kearney. He has experience in many facets of education. He was the guidance counselor and social science teacher at Banner County High School. He also taught social science at Wolbach and St. Paul Public Schools. He coached football and wrestling throughout his teaching career. He became the principal and athletic director at Palmer Public School before coming to Holdrege Middle School in the fall of 2004.
When asked about his philosophy of middle school education, this was his reply, " I have a strong belief in the core education curriculum, with an emphasis on Reading, Writing and Math concepts. I also believe that middle school students should have the opportunity to take exploratory classes to experience a variety of possible career paths."
